John and Wendy Brace and family have a happy new addition! They foster for Whiskerville as well and have been a HUGE help to us! We couldn't do what we do without folks like them who support us!
Buddy joined our family in May 2003 after spending quite a long time with the good folks at Whiskerville. We could never understand why so many folks passed on this wonderful dog.....perhaps because he wasn't a puppy? Buddy adapted to our family with such ease that we decided that any future doggy additions while the kids were young would be pups passed puppyhood.
Recently, our oldest daughter wanted to adopt a puppy and spent a good deal of time reading about training puppies and researching available dogs in our area. She came to the conclusion that puppies were alot of work and there were far too many older dogs available. So we went to visit the folks at Whiskerville last Saturday.
Sunny D. (aka Intha) joined our family and I cannot imagine this sweet dog roaming the streets- I am so glad Whiskerville was there to save her for us. She is an absolute joy and once again we are amazed at how fast she has adapted to our family.
Puppies are appealing but folks please take a closer look at the older dogs! The saying is that you can't teach an old dog new tricks but honestly I just don't believe that is so. Our "old" dogs have learned the routine and rules of our home so quickly that we may never again adopt a puppy. Perhaps it is because of all the hard work that the folks at Whiskerville invest in these animals before they join us. Anyone looking for a companion for their family and kids cannot go wrong by adopting from Whiskerville!
