Lil Max Hoover Hock

Lil Max was the love of our lives and he ran the house as well, even though we have two other dogs. He was The Man!

Max loved his squeaky toys, chewing rawhide bones and picking on his brother, Oreo. His main love was playing with his ball, whether with us or by himself. He would go to the edge of the ramp out back and push it with his nose and watch it roll until it stopped. Then he would chase after it and do it again. He was a riot!

First thing every morning he would go out and bring us our newspaper, then in the afternon he would wait for Dad to say, "Let's go get the mail." He had to carry in a piece of mail and shred it, that made his day!

Lil Max was diagnosed with lymphosarcoma (cancer) in November 2004. There was nothing else the vet could do but make him comfortable in his final days. He blew up to 29 lbs. That is big for a dachshund and you could tell he was miserable, even though he never showed the pain.

On Saturday, January 1, 2005, we woke up to a pool of blood and we knew we had to make that call to Dr. Austin's. It was the hardest thing we have ever done.

Lil Max might be gone in body, but he will never leave our hearts.

We will see you again, be brave Lil Max. We love you. Mom & Dad (Donald and Ruth Hock)
