In Memory of Joshua
March 20, 2003
We
are very heartbroken to tell you that our little Josh died
this morning. Despite our best efforts to save him, his little
lungs were filled with fluid and he could not hold on.
This poor little kitten was wandering around a neighborhood
of so-called "concerned" people for several weeks.
Not one of these people lifted one finger to help this poor
little kitten until he was injured in some way that resulted
in a broken leg and apparently other injuries or underlying
illnesses that took his life this morning.
Not
only does Whiskerville continually bear the financial costs
of trying to help these animals that no one else cares about,
we also have to bear the emotional trauma of losing them when
all efforts fail. But those "concerned" citizens
are no doubt sleeping fine at night because in their minds,
they did everything they could. If you consider watching a
helpless kitten suffer on the street needlessly and making
a phone call way too late actually "doing something".
This simply does not constitute a "rescue".
We would like to thank Dr. Molitor and the wonderful people
at Austin & Associates for doing everything they could
to save this precious baby.
This was Josh's story:
16 weeks, Male, gray medium hair. He was rescued at 13 weeks
in a Texas City neighborhood where no one cared UNTIL he broke
his leg. We trapped him and another wild cat with ZERO help
from the "concerned" neighborhood. He had to have
a blood transfusion directly into the bone as his veins were
too collapsed to find one! The reason for the transfusion?
Feline Anemia caused by fleas. What a horrible life these
animals are living thanks to PEOPLE who simply will not do
the right thing by them. Just this one cat's bill so far (at
half price) is over $600. We are NOT complaining about the
bill, only the lack of help we are getting from all the "animal
lover's" of this community! Once Joshua has fully recovered,
he will be looking for a loving home where he won't have to
suffer ever again.
